Lessons from a New England Weekend

  • It is important to book the ticket for the correct day.
  • It is equally important to, once you have the right day booked, go to the correct airport.
  • Trying to fly on an expired license means you will be treated like a security threat.
  • Attempting to purchase tax-free alcohol in New Hampshire with an expired license is impossible (expiration = you're not 21 anymore, apparently).
  • It is imperative that the driver of the car not look at his passenger's legs too much or he might almost get in an accident.

And finally:

  • If you're having trouble finding the quaint shopping streets a friend recommended you drive down, it's probably because you're in the wrong town...in the wrong state.

(Hey, Portsmouth and Portland sound familiar.)

More later...

Wrong airport, wrong state, wrong town, wrong date and an expired license - you must be the worst person to travel with ever.

I'm usually not that bad. Normally I book the ticket for the wrong date OR go to the wrong airport, not both. And yet somehow I've managed to visit almost 20 countries... How DO I do it?

You often travel with equally adventurous yet -perhaps- slightly more astute companions...? :)

Marissa, where would I be without you? Oh, that's right, still stuck in the wilds of Northern Wales in a small town with honeycomb ice cream and nothing else, or perhaps I'd still be in Budapest. Not bad places to be, mind, just that I'd have missed out on so many others.

When are we traveling again together? You're my travel soulmate!
