New Year's Resolutions c. 2005--2009

  1. Lose weight
  2. Find new job
  3. Save money
Funnily enough, those were the exact same resolutions as last year.

Several months ago, in a fit of pique, I told my roommate I didn't have anything to show for the entire year of 2005. I guess that's not entirely true:
  • I went to six countries (Czech Rep., Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, England, Mexico). Went to Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and spent one day in Washington, DC.
  • I got a new, better-paying job close to my apartment (although it's not my dream career by any means).
  • I developed better friendships, met a couple of new people, and kept up with my old pals.
  • I dated three different guys for short periods of time (record length: a whole month).
  • I attended six weddings. A partial accomplishment, of sorts.
  • I took ballroom dance lessons with my pal Joe. Now know how to waltz, tango and foxtrot, although the memory is quickly fading.
  • Got to know Chicago. From now on, no matter where I end up, when I come back to visit I will always have that knowledge--will know El lines, will know neighborhoods. Same with London. Now, how many more cities can I learn in my lifetime?
In 2006 I would like:
  • to take a big trip next fall/winter to the Antipodes (read: Australia & New Zealand).
  • to perhaps get cast in a play. Or not. Not so much a priority.
  • go out dancing more.
  • do all the things in Chicago I haven't done, so I have no regrets with leaving.
  • to figure out my career path.
  • maybe take the GRE.
  • to move to a new city or country next September when my lease is up. Possible candidates: the aforementioned Antipodes; New York, Boston, DC, San Francisco, Seattle.
Hopefully, this time next year I will have accomplished some of these goals. Hold me to them!

EDIT 1/2:
A real new year's resolution:

In the year 2006 I resolve to:

Poke a badger with a spoon.
